Teachers Give Running Lesson

Pam Quist teaches elementary school in New Fairfield.  JT Schemm teaches science in New Milford.  Between them, they gave this week's field in Roxbury a running lesson, winning their respective divisions by comfortable margins.  To add to the theme, second place Mike Abraham also teaches in New Milford.  You don't have to be a teacher to run Roxbury, though.   Second place woman Kyle Gancher runs an ice cream store in Waterbury.

The front of the race soon broke up into three groups of two each.   In their respective duels, JT slowly pulled away from Mike, and had enough of a lead that he was able to give most of it back on the big hill up Hemlock and still hold on for the win.  Jay Kuenzle and Adam Kozak had a similar battle for third place.   Back farther, The Old Fossil tried twice to put away Keyless Bob, once with a surge past the General Store, and then with climbing the hill.  Though Keyless claimed his foot was ailing because of the over-enthusiastic ministrations of a podiatrist treating a nasty wart, he still answered the challenges and pulled away by a decisive margin.

Kyle Gancher continues her miraculous recovery, finishing a respectable minute and a half behind Winner Pam, and a minute ahead of the folks she ran with last week.  Boston Marathon is only two weeks away, April 15, and it's looking like she'll be able to do it.   The publicity folks there have included her story on their page of Human Interest stories at their web site.  A close reading of that page might turn up, buried in the fine print, the name of another Roxbury Regular.
