Gancher, Basich Win Summer Championship

Chris Basich has had it tough for a little while now.  It's been a long comeback from his broken foot last year, but today he conquered a tough field on Roxbury's toughest course to win the Roxbury Summer Championship, sponsored by the Litchfield Bank.  Springfield College ace Pete Gillen, half Chris Basich's age, held in there for most of the race, but finished 22 seconds behind.

Keyless boB Derringer suffered another week of frustration, despite his new haircut and very fast new shoes, as Mike Abraham beat him for the zillionth week in a row, this time by just 15 seconds.  Bob had Mike's number early in the season, but Mike changed his number and the two are locked in a death match in the Roxbury Points race.

Kyle Gancher won again for the second week in a row.   This week she was about two minutes slower than last week, taking it easy before the big 15k in Utica, NY next week.  (Fossil ran that race many years ago, when it was the National Championship race.  BIG RACE!)  Mary-Alex Zickefoose and Sarah Thomas weren't very far behind.

Though it was easy to complain about the hills this week, nobody dared complain about the weather.  It really was as nice as it looks in the pictures, sunny, mild breeze, and in the low 70's.  After a sweltering week, it was a swell weekend.
